2010, fiber and paper, 422 worry dolls; dimensions variable.
Haapapuro’s open studio installation at the University of Dayton explored the idea of the studio as a space to share experiences, and of art making as a form of therapy. Each doll began with a worry written on a twist of paper, then strands of thread and ribbon were wrapped around and around; the ideas being that when the figure was complete, so too was the worry. Many participants found the process cathartic.
