Inspired by hand painted and gilded manuscripts of the Middle Ages and Incunabula, or books printed before 1500, Leesa Haapapuro invited the community to participate in a series of free printmaking, painting and gilding workshops illuminating the William Carlos Williams’ epic poem Asphodel, That Greeny Flower.
Through ongoing community workshops and open studio hours in Rosewood’s new community printmaking studios, the poem was transformed into an ongoing visual artwork displayed along the halls of Rosewood Arts Center. Passages was completed in the fall of 2024, and the poem is now bound in three large volumes.
